Welcome to Mukilteo Elementary and to the 2026–2027 school year!

I hope you were able to enjoy some quality time together over the summer and are now settling back into the routines of the school year. A special welcome goes out to all of our new families joining the ME community this year. I look forward to getting to know you throughout the year as you and your students become part of the ME Falcon community. I believe you will find ME to be an outstanding school community, with dedicated staff, parents, and students who work together to create a wonderful learning environment for all. We are excited to have you as part of our Falcon family and look forward to a fantastic school year!

Mission Statement:

Our overall mission statement is Developing Leaders Who S.O.A.R. The S.O.A.R. acronym represents our Leader in Me work, including teaching the 7 Habits, while continuing our work to build belonging and develop leadership in our students. Each letter in S.O.A.R. represents the following phrases: S – Support Each Other, O – Own Our Actions, A – Appreciate Differences, and R – Reach for Excellence. Our staff looks forward to developing the learners in our community into leaders who demonstrate their ability to S.O.A.R. while here at ME and beyond.

Positive Behavior:

Staff began this week and will continue working to directly teach and model schoolwide expectations for various areas across our campus, all with an emphasis on students being Safe, Kind, and Responsible. One way we recognize students for their positive behavior is through the use of S.O.A.R tickets, which are given to students who do a great job meeting our three key expectations: being Safe, Kind, and Responsible. The goal of proactively teaching expectations to students in every classroom is to create a positive school culture and to develop safe learning environments.

September is full of exciting events, including the PTSA Back-to-School Bingo Night, MOD Pizza Fundraiser, and Menchie’s Fundraiser. Also, mark your calendars for Picture Day on Thursday, September 24! Order forms will be sent home with your student next week.

It has been a great first few days of school! I’ve seen classrooms focusing on building relationships, establishing routines, and having fun, and your wonderful students are responding so well!

For attendance and absence related questions or comments, please email the following information: child's name, dates absent, reason for absence to MEAttendance@mukilteo.wednet.edu. You can also call the front office at 425.366.3100 to report your absence.

Arrival & Dismissal Reminder

Arrival: We tell students that it is COOL to be ON TIME for SCHOOL. On time means they are in their classroom by 9:00 AM. Please help your student be on time and ready to learn each day. If your student’s classroom is in the new building, please keep in mind that it takes a little extra time to get there. We kindly remind you that student drop-off should not occur before 8:45 AM, as supervision will not be available before this time. Your cooperation ensures the safety and well-being of all students.

Dismissal: All dismissal changes must go through the office. To make sure we have time to communicate the dismissal changes we ask families to call the office at least one hour prior to dismissal.

Early pickup: If your child has an appointment or needs to be picked up early from school, please remember to bring your photo ID with you to our office. While we know many of our families, this is an extra measure to ensure safety at school. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe!

Going home a different way: If your child is going to be going home a different way, please call our school office at least one hour prior to dismissal. The end of the day is very busy and this allows us to make sure that we have time to connect with teachers and students, so they are aware of changes.

Your cooperation keeps arrival and dismissal safe, smooth, and efficient for all of our elementary students. Thank you for your partnership!

Do You Have A 5th Grader?

One of the traditions that our ME 5th graders look forward to is getting their 5th grade sweatshirt! The time has come to order yours.

These black hoodie sweatshirts are so comfortable and warm that many of our 5th graders wear them almost every day, whether it's sunny, bitterly cold, or pouring rain.

We have an online store set up just for our ME 5th graders. The super cool sweatshirts cost $30 - $32 and come in youth and adult sizes. Each shirt is personalized with the student's LAST name. Please, no nicknames or first names.

All the sweatshirts will arrive at ME and will be distributed on the same day. We aim for each of our 5th graders to have their own sweatshirt. For some of our families, the cost of a shirt is a hardship, so if your family is willing and able, please consider donating towards a sweatshirt for a fellow student. The first option on the website is to donate. Scroll down to find the order form for your student's sweatshirt.

Save the Date | ME PTSA Auction

Join us for the ME PTSA Auction on November 13 at 5:30 pm at Rosehill Community Center for a fun-filled tailgate-style night that directly supports our students!

The evening will include a raffle, silent auction, live auction, and plenty of tailgate-inspired fun. Tickets are now available, and include event admission, an assigned seat, dinner, and a drink.

Corporate sponsorship is available through October 1st, email fundraising@meptsa.org to learn more about sponsoring this event. Every sponsorship, ticket, bid, and donation helps support our ME students directly.

Know Where Your Bus Is With My Ride K-12

Start the school day with confidence by staying connected to your student’s bus in real time. My Ride K-12 gives families real-time bus information and important transportation updates right from a phone or computer.

With My Ride K-12, parents and guardians can:

See when their student’s bus is approaching the bus stop.
Receive notifications about delays.
Check bus schedules, changes, and updates.
Share access with their student so they can stay informed, too.

My Ride K-12 is the primary way our Transportation Department communicates bus information and alerts with families, so we encourage families who use district transportation to sign up.

Setting Up the App

Download My Ride K-12 from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Search and select your specific school district inside the app.
Register or sign up using your email address and password.

Linking Your Student

Tap to add student within the dashboard.
Input your child's unique Student ID (you can find your student ID number in Qmlative), last name, and date of birth (example 12/30/2000).
Turn notifications ON in your phone settings to receive live delay alerts and bus stop changes.

Before the first day of school, download My Ride K-12 and make sure you are ready to receive the latest information about your student’s bus.

Safety First: Parking & Pick-Up Reminders

Please park only in designated parking spaces when dropping off or picking up students. For everyone’s safety, always use the crosswalk when walking from the parking lot to the sidewalk. Our bus drivers rely on pedestrians using the crosswalk so they can safely anticipate where people will be crossing. If you are picking up students, please use the designated car pick-up line. Thank you for helping us keep our students and families safe by following these expectations.

Breakfast and Lunch

Meals are free this year for all schools and all students.

While all students may have one free breakfast and one free lunch at school, additional meals must be purchased. In addition, milks purchased separate from the school meal (if bringing a lunch from home, or getting a second milk, for instance) must be purchased because of the way schools are reimbursed for meals served.

If you have students who would like to purchase these items, please load funds into your student's MySchoolBucks account by following these steps:

Elementary students are charged for the following items:

Single milk: $.50
Second meal at breakfast: $1.75
Second meal at lunch: $3.35

Cash Payment Instructions

Elementary schools do not have cash registers, so if you need to pay with cash or check, please bring your payment to the Nutrition Services Office at District Support Services (8925 Airport Road, Everett, 98204). For families paying by check, please make checks payable to your school name or Mukilteo School District Nutrition Services. Please write your student's ID number on the check so we are sure to credit the correct account.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthdays are an exciting time for students, and we want to acknowledge student birthdays while keeping all our children safe. Due to the many students with allergies and food sensitivities, food items are not permitted for birthday celebrations at school. Please coordinate with the classroom teacher to determine the best time to celebrate your child’s birthday.

If you choose to send in a treat for your child’s classroom, we are requesting that it be non-food based. Treat ideas include: pencils or stickers, homemade Play-Doh, bubbles, small party favors, silly straws, origami, stickers, homemade games, and bookmarks. The donation of a book to the classroom library in honor of a child’s birthday would be appropriate. If you intend to purchase non-food birthday treats, please limit spending to less than $2 per student.

Balloon deliveries will be held in the office and given to the student at the end of the day. Please remember that balloon bouquets are not allowed on the school bus.

Invitations for an activity outside of school, like a birthday party for example, should be given out outside of school unless the whole class is invited. This cuts down on hurt feelings or feelings of being excluded.

September Reading Challenge

To complete this reading challenge, choose four different books to read this month that match with the categories listed. Write the name of the book you read on the line. Turn it into Mrs. Morse or Mrs. Edwards by October 1st for a chance to win a prize.
