ME Falcon Spirit

March 20, 2026
A cartoon owl holds a sign with "TJ R." and "Ms. Songstad's & Mrs. Olson's Class" written on it.
Every day, students have the opportunity to earn SOAR tickets, which they can trade for awesome prizes at the SOAR Store! One of the most exciting rewards is being featured in the Falcon Spirit! This week, we’re thrilled to introduce our featured student who has earned this special recognition. Congratulations to TJ R. in Ms. Songstad’s and Mrs. Olson's class!

Keep up the great work, everyone! The more SOAR tickets you earn, the more exciting opportunities await you at the SOAR Store. Let’s continue to SOAR together! Stay tuned for more student spotlights in our upcoming newsletters!

4th & 5th Grade Future Chefs Event

The Mukilteo School District Nutrition Service Department is thrilled to announce the return of the Future Chefs Culinary Competition. All 4th and 5th grade students are encouraged to submit a recipe for their favorite “Afternoon Snack”.

This event is designed to encourage and educate our kids in Healthy Eating Habits. Too often we hear about our kids not making the best food choices. Here is the opportunity for your student to show how they have improved and reimagined their favorite “Afternoon Snack” to make it healthy and nutritious.

4th and 5th grade students can submit their recipes to office by Friday, March 27th. A panel of administrators will choose the two best recipes from each school to participate in our competition on Friday, May 8th at Sno-Isle Skills Center. This event runs from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., giving the chosen Chefs the chance to prepare and display their recipes for parents and our distinguished judges.

Grand Prize judging will be based on the following:
  • Most Original Recipe
  • Healthiest Recipe
  • Fun Kid Food
  • Judges’ Choice

Students need to provide their own transportation to Sno-Isle Skill Center on the day of the event. Nutrition Services will provide all the food and equipment for each finalist, with an adult mentor assigned to each participant to ensure safe food preparations are followed. Finalists are encouraged to decorate their presentation table. Participants will receive a framed certificate, a recipe book of all finalist’s recipes and a bag full of other prizes. The 4 Grand Prize winners will also receive a new Bike & Helmet.
