ME Falcon Spirit

January 9, 2026
Text reads 'From the Principal' with an apple and an open book.
Welcome back from winter break. I hope that everyone enjoyed wonderful time connecting with family and friends. As we begin the New Year with your children, we look forward to filling 2026 with many fun and engaging learning experiences.

As a reminder during these winter months, please send students in warm layers to go outside. We know students benefit from getting outside to run and play, even in colder weather, and we want to be sure they stay warm and comfortable.

Lastly, holiday break is often a time when new technology makes its way into homes and into the hands of students and families. Smartphones, game consoles, VR headsets wearable tech, and now smart glasses are some of the popular items for children, teens, and adults. Many of these devices offer learning opportunities creativity and fun. However, it is important to understand what capabilities the devices have and how to set them up so that young people have a safer and more positive experience in using them.

Below, I have included links that share general guidance for new devices, as well as specific information about Roblox settings. Roblox is one example of a platform with many different components designed for a wide range of ages, and these resources provide a helpful overview of how to support safe and appropriate interaction.

Information On Upcoming Bond and Levy

Join us for an interactive session with district leaders to learn about the February 10th school ballot! Approval of the renewal learning levy would sustain 300 staff members and programs like athletics, arts, and campus safety, while passage of the capital construction bond would fund dozens of projects to improve student safety, replace outdated building systems, and modernize decades-old schools.

Bring your questions and hear directly from the leaders guiding this work.

January 14th - 4:00 to 5:00 pm

January 21st - 6:00 to 7:00 pm

These are online events. Interpretation will be available upon request to communications@mukilteo.wednet.edu

PTSA January Meeting

Mark your calendars for our January PTSA Meeting on Monday, January 12, at 6:30 p.m. in Room 231 of our new building.

Team members from the Assistant Superintendent's office will join us to share more about the bond and levy that will be on the ballot in February's special election.

The bond measure would pay for numerous construction projects across the district, including future phases of ME's replacement. The levy would extend the district's ongoing operations levy.

Leadership Month

Please join our celebration of Service & Leadership!

At Mukilteo Elementary this year we are combining our celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a celebration of leadership. During the year we study and practice the 7 Habits, leadership, and service. Now, throughout January we want to celebrate the leadership in our community!

We invite you or someone you know to visit your child’s class, in person or virtually, and talk about how you are called upon to be a leader or give service in your everyday life! We want to hear your leadership story: the ways you are proactive and how you work with others to make a difference in the lives of other people.

If you would be able to speak with your child’s class about your everyday leadership, please contact your child’s teacher. Please also pass this information along to another community member who might be interested in this opportunity to show how real people show leadership just by being themselves.

Dear 5th-grade parents,

A tradition here at ME is to provide our wonderful 5th graders with an end-of-the-year celebration. The ME 5th grade tradition has become to give the 5th graders a day at the beach - much fun, lots of food, and varied activities are valued and appreciated parts of the celebration.

We are looking for 5th-grade parents who want to be part of this incredible and illustrious planning. Please plan to attend the first planning meeting on Tuesday, January 20, at 4:00 p.m. in room 244 (Mrs. Green’s room). If you need to bring your child along, that is fine.

Some items to discuss at our first meeting:
  • Choose a parent volunteer (or two) to lead the planning committee
  • Choose parent volunteers to coordinate various subcommittees
  • Discuss/decide theme for the day
  • Decide on the donation letter and the amount of funds to request
If you cannot meet in person on the 20th but would LOVE to be part of the 5th-grade celebration, please let Mrs. Green know. She serves as the teacher/staff liaison to the committee.
