Drop-off, Pick-up, and Parking Lot Procedures

Aerial view of a school campus with traffic flow directions for buses and parent pick-up.
  • During arrival and dismissal times, the long driveway from Olympic View Middle School becomes ONE WAY TRAFFIC ONLY. Cars should not turn around and drive back past Olympic View but should proceed through the parking lot and out the bottom of the driveway onto Washington Street.

  • Parents dropping off or picking up their student(s) can use the student drop off lane that is clearly marked along the sidewalk to allow your child to exit the car on the sidewalk side. As soon as the child exits the car, please proceed out of line and drive out of the parking lot. Cars following may then move up and drop off their student(s) closer to the school.

  • Parents wishing to park their car in the parking lot may do so. Please be sure to walk your child through the parking lot at all times. With so many cars, it can be quite dangerous if children are not escorted. Also, go to the crosswalks to cross the traffic/bus lanes. We have crossing guards posted at those locations. Parking is limited and cars must park in designated parking spaces due to fire lanes.

  • Please drive very slowly through the lot at a speed no faster than 10 miles per hour.

If there is bus transportation provided for your student(s), we encourage you to allow your child to ride the bus. This cuts down greatly in the congestion during the arrival and dismissal times.

Do You Have A 5th Grader?

One of the traditions that our ME fifth graders look forward to is getting their 5th-grade sweatshirt! The time has come to order yours.

These black hoodie sweatshirts are so comfortable and warm that many of our 5th graders wear them almost every day, whether it's sunny, bitterly cold, or pouring rain.

We have an online store set up just for our ME 5th graders.

The super cool sweatshirts cost $30 - $32 and come in youth and adult sizes.

Each shirt is personalized with the student's LAST name. Please, no nicknames or first names.

All the sweatshirts will arrive at ME and will be distributed on the same day. We aim for each of our 5th graders to have their own sweatshirt.

For some of our families, the cost of a shirt is a hardship, so if your family is willing and able, please consider donating towards a sweatshirt for a fellow student. The first option on the website is to donate. Scroll down to find the order form for your student's sweatshirt.

The store is open till September 25th.

Volunteer To Be a Nature Guide

ME PTSA's Nature Guides are volunteers who enable students to learn about nature in the ME Outdoor Classroom and Garden.

Volunteers partner with teachers to lead activities for students in our outdoor learning space. We have a pre-recorded orientation available for volunteers who are interested in becoming Nature Guides, as well as year-round activities for each grade.

Student lessons include taking time to practice gratitude and mindfulness in nature, which has been shown to improve academic and social emotional learning outcomes for students.

Volunteer To Be an Art Docent

The ME PTSA oversees the Art Docent Program, which is run entirely by volunteers. Art Docents bring fine arts into the classroom approximately once a month. You do not need to be an artist or a teacher to volunteer.

Short lessons and fun projects introduce students to artists and works of art, contextual world history, and art movements through different artistic mediums, as acrylics, watercolors, chalk/oil pastels, and collage. They also teach art concepts as color theory, perspective, texture, shading, blending, and more.

September Reading Challenge

Please stop by the library to pick up a copy of the September reading challenge. To complete this reading challenge, choose four different books to read this month that match the categories listed. Be sure to write in the name of the book you read in or next to the lemon where it fits. Turn it into Mrs. Morse or Mrs. Edwards when you're done for a chance to win a prize. Happy Reading!

Breakfast and Lunch

Meals are free this year for all schools and all students. Click here for the September menu.

While all students may have one free breakfast and one free lunch at school, additional meals must be purchased. In addition, milks purchased separate from the school meal (if bringing a lunch from home, or getting a second milk, for instance) must be purchased because of the way schools are reimbursed for meals served.

If you have students who would like to purchase these items, please load funds into your student's MySchoolBucks account by following these steps:
  1. Go to My School Bucks
  2. Click “sign up for free” and follow instructions
Elementary students are charged for the following items:
  • Single milk: $.50
  • Second meal at breakfast: $1.75
  • Second meal at lunch: $3.35

Cash Payment Instructions
Elementary schools do not have cash registers, so if you need to pay with cash or check, please bring your payment to the Nutrition Services Office at District Support Services (8925 Airport Road, Everett, 98204). For families paying by check, please make checks payable to your school name or Mukilteo School District Nutrition Services. Please write your student's ID number on the check so we are sure to credit the correct account.

Birthday Celebrations

Birthdays are an exciting time for students, and we want to acknowledge student birthdays while keeping all our children safe. Due to the many students with allergies and food sensitivities, food items are not permitted for birthday celebrations at school. Please coordinate with the classroom teacher to determine the best time to celebrate your child’s birthday.

If you choose to send in a treat for your child’s classroom, we are requesting that it be non-food based. Treat ideas include: pencils or stickers, homemade Play-Doh, bubbles, small party favors, silly straws, origami, stickers, homemade games, and bookmarksThe donation of a book to the classroom library in honor of a child’s birthday would be appropriate. If you intend to purchase non-food birthday treats, please limit spending to less than $2 per student.

Balloon deliveries will be held in the office and given to the student at the end of the day. Please remember that balloon bouquets are not allowed on the school bus.
Invitations for an activity outside of school, like a birthday party for example, should be given out outside of school unless the whole class is invited. This cuts down on hurt feelings or feelings of being excluded.
